After the Concordat of 1801 restored religious peace, the organic articles of April 8, 1802, defined the territorial limits of the archbishoprics, bishoprics, and parishes. The departmental organization created by the Civil Constitution of the Clergy in 1790 remained the basis of the new religious constituencies. However, the Concordat bishoprics no longer matched the borders of a single department but rather spread across several. The department evolved into a circumscription, with cantonal curacies completing the organization. The Bayonne dioceses, made up of three departments, brought together the former dioceses of Bayonne, Oloron, Lescar, Dax, Tarbes and portions of the former bishoprics of Bordeaux, Aire, Bazas, and Auch. Comparing the maps of 1789 and 1803, the date of the definitive setting of parish limits, illuminates a remarkable continuity, with the setting of new and reasonable boundaries, but also the demotion of former seats of archpriests to the rank of simple parishes.</dc:description><dc:identifier>https://journals.openedition.org/acrh/32918</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>https://journals.openedition.org/acrh/pdf/32918</dc:identifier><dc:relation>vignette : https://www.bilketa.eus/in/rest/Thumb/image?id=ark:/27020/OpenEdition/acrh/32918&amp;mat=articleNum</dc:relation><dc:language>fre</dc:language><dc:rights>https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/</dc:rights><dc:subject>cure</dc:subject><dc:subject>canton</dc:subject><dc:subject>archiprêtré</dc:subject><dc:subject>succursale</dc:subject><dc:subject>diocèse</dc:subject><dc:subject>curacy</dc:subject><dc:subject>parish</dc:subject><dc:subject>canton</dc:subject><dc:subject>archpriesthood</dc:subject><dc:subject>branch</dc:subject><dc:subject>diocese</dc:subject><dc:title>Continuités et ruptures : des archiprêtrés aux cures cantonales dans le diocèse de Bayonne, 1790-1803</dc:title></oai_dc:dc></metadata></record></GetRecord></OAI-PMH>
