Que peut-il nous apporter ? Une analyse de contenu du discours sur la place de la musique dans leur culture, le jeu des instruments de musique, leurs particularités, les circonstances et contextes dans lesquels ils sont utilisés, nous permettent de saisir de l’intérieur leur vision du monde et de la musique, et également d’approfondir notre connaissance du fonctionnement social dans lequel s’inscrivent les pratiques musicales. Notre expérience dans deux univers culturels, en apparence très différents – le monde andin et le Pays basque – nous permet de dégager quelques points de convergences qui pourraient peut-être se rapporter à l’ensemble des musiques traditionnelles.From one continent and civilisation to another, the way in which musicians describe their work and their instruments is in itself thought provoking. What can we learn from this? Analysis of such things as: discourse content regarding the place of music in their culture, the playing of musical instruments, their distinctive features, the circumstances and situations in which they are used, can enable us to grasp from within, their vision of the world and of music. Furthermore, it may also deepen our understanding of the social function that music plays in a particular society.
