Through analysis of the discovered records we have been able to identify various changes that conditioned the development of the facility built during the first decades of the 1st century AD. The initial thermal functionality began to show certain difficulties from the reign of Claudius onwards, which led to the early end of this activity at the beginning of the 2nd century AD. In this new context, part of the site was converted into a production area, first for pottery and then, during Late Antiquity, for metallurgy. Taking in consideration all this, the transformations identified in this facility allow us to situate the Zaldua site as a whole in the conceptual field of small towns, and to conclude that we are dealing with a small Roman city in a peripheral and mountainous environment located on the edge of a main road.</dc:description><dc:identifier>https://hal.science/hal-04971309</dc:identifier><dc:format>Actes de conférence | Mintzaldietako aktak</dc:format><dc:format>Actes de conférence | Mintzaldietako aktak</dc:format><dc:relation>vignette : https://www.bilketa.eus/in/rest/Thumb/image?id=ark:/27020/hal-04971309&amp;mat=articleNum</dc:relation><dc:language>eng</dc:language><dc:rights xml:lang="fre">domaine public</dc:rights><dc:rights xml:lang="eng">public domain</dc:rights><dc:coverage>Roma, Italy</dc:coverage><dc:subject>Termal complex</dc:subject><dc:subject>Pyrenees</dc:subject><dc:subject>metallurgy activities</dc:subject><dc:subject>small towns</dc:subject><dc:subject>Humanitateak eta zientzia sozialak</dc:subject><dc:subject>Humanités et sciences sociales</dc:subject><dc:subject>Arkeologia eta historiaurrea</dc:subject><dc:subject>Archéologie et préhistoire</dc:subject><dc:subject>Historia</dc:subject><dc:subject>Histoire</dc:subject><dc:title>The conversion of a facility into an urban environment in the western Pyrenees: the thermal complex of Zaldua (Navarre)</dc:title></oai_dc:dc></metadata></record></GetRecord></OAI-PMH>
